Note from Marty

“As you can see from the large print at the top, I am Marty Broussard, and I am a candidate for Judge of the Second City Court in the election to be held Tuesday, November 6th of this year.

Many of you supported me when I was elected Clerk of the Second City Court in 1994. Even more of you know me from my work in the Algiers community over the past 28 years. From coaching soccer, baseball and football at PAC and Norman Playground to picking up trash on the medians and in neighborhoods in Algiers, I have given of my time and resources to our community.

In return, your continued support has allowed me to be re-elected as Clerk twice without opposition. For an elected official, this is the greatest testimony one can receive and I have always responded by continuing to serve the Algiers community. On the other hand, being elected without opposition does have a drawback in that I did not have to mount a campaign and I did not get the opportunity to personally contact and get to know new faces in Algiers.

During this campaign, you will have the opportunity to meet me and to learn why I believe that I am the best candidate for this Judgeship. Second City Court is a vital part of our city’s judicial system. More importantly, it is an integral piece of the very fabric of our Algiers community. In my 17 years of recording the proceedings of Second City Court, I have learned the workings of this Court first hand. I am ready to take the bench and become Judge with the full understanding of the importance of my role in seeking justice and fairness for everyone who comesbefore the Court.

I believe my qualifications and experience are worthy of your respect and your support and I ask that you join with me in my election on Tuesday, November 6th.”
